Duck Hunters Slot Game Review

Duck Hunters takes a simple scatter-pays setup and turns it into one of Nolimit City’s busier slot games. Wins clear symbols from the grid, multipliers remain behind, and fresh symbols drop into the gaps. The longer a sequence continues, the more important those multiplier positions become.

The game uses six reels and five rows, with payouts formed when eight or more matching symbols appear anywhere on the grid. There are no traditional paylines to follow. Instead, most of the attention sits on the cascading wins, xWays symbols, Bombs and the three different Free Spins rounds. Duck Hunters was released by Nolimit City in February 2025 and carries a maximum win of 30,000x the total bet.

Duck Hunters sits alongside the wider selection of online slots available at Smooth Spins.

Theme & Graphics

The game takes place in a muddy American backwater filled with hunters, armed ducks, bottles, eggs and makeshift hunting gear. Nothing about it is polished or subtle. The artwork leans into exaggerated characters, rough clothing and a deliberately scruffy cartoon style.

Four human characters make up the highest-paying symbols, while the lower tier includes a duck carrying a rifle, a nest of eggs, a crossbow, a bottle and a beer can.

What stood out to us was how much information stays visible behind the symbols. Each cleared position can gain a multiplier, so the grid slowly becomes covered in highlighted spaces as a winning sequence develops. It looks chaotic at first, but those markers make it easier to see where the next valuable symbol needs to land.

Payout Table

The payout values below are based on the total bet.

Symbol 8–9 10–11 12+
Red Hunter 0.30x 1x 5x
Pink Hunter 0.20x 0.80x 3.50x
Brown Hunter 0.15x 0.70x 3x
Blue Hunter 0.15x 0.60x 2.50x
Armed Duck 0.10x 0.40x 2x
Egg Nest 0.10x 0.30x 1.75x
Crossbow 0.10x 0.25x 1.50x
Bottle 0.10x 0.20x 1.25x
Beer Can 0.10x 0.15x 1x

The Wild symbol substitutes for the nine regular paying symbols. It does not replace Bonus symbols or the other feature symbols.

Bonus Features

Scatter Wins & Position Multipliers

Eight or more matching symbols form a scatter win anywhere on the 6x5 grid.

Every symbol involved is removed, allowing new symbols to fall into the empty spaces. If another winning group appears, the process continues without requiring a new paid spin.

Each cleared position receives a 2x multiplier. When another winning symbol lands on the same space during the cascade, that multiplier doubles. A 2x position can become 4x, then 8x, 16x and continue rising to a maximum of 8,192x.

The multipliers reset once a normal base-game sequence ends. During Free Spins, they remain in place for the full feature.

xWays Symbols

An xWays symbol transforms into one of the regular paying symbols.

It also increases the multiplier on its position by 2x, 4x or 8x. Where several xWays symbols appear together, they reveal the same symbol, helping place more matching icons onto the grid before the result is calculated.

Infectious xWays

Infectious xWays takes the normal xWays feature further.

When it reveals a symbol already visible on the grid, the other matching symbols expand in the same way. This can add more copies of one symbol and improve the chance of forming a larger scatter win.

We found this one of the more useful features to watch because it can change a fairly ordinary grid before the cascades even begin.

Bomb Feature

Bomb symbols explode before the next cascade.

A standard Bomb removes regular paying symbols in a 3x3 area and doubles the multipliers on each affected position. Wild and Bonus symbols are not removed.

This gives the Bomb two possible uses. It can clear unhelpful symbols from the grid, while also building multipliers in spaces that may become part of a later win.

Duck Hunt Spins

Three Bonus symbols trigger seven Duck Hunt Spins.

Position multipliers stay active from one free spin to the next. One of the following upgrades is also selected:

  • Standard xWays become Infectious xWays.
  • Bombs expand from a 3x3 area to a 5x5 area.
  • Extra Shot symbols award two additional spins instead of one.

Duck Hunt Spins provide the most basic version of the feature because only one upgrade is active.

Hawk Eye Spins

Four Bonus symbols award eight Hawk Eye Spins.

The feature follows the same rules as Duck Hunt Spins, but two of the three upgrades are active. This means the round may combine Infectious xWays with larger Bombs, extra spins with stronger xWays, or another two-feature pairing.

Big Game Spins

Five Bonus symbols trigger ten Big Game Spins.

All three upgrades are active from the beginning. Bombs use the larger 5x5 area, every xWays becomes Infectious and Extra Shot symbols provide two more spins.

Big Game Spins is the most complete version of the Duck Hunters bonus, giving the persistent position multipliers more time and more feature support to develop.

Extra Shot Symbols

Extra Shot symbols can appear during the Free Spins rounds.

The standard symbol adds one spin. When the Extra Shot upgrade is active, it awards two instead. Any extra spin keeps the existing position multipliers on the grid.

Spin Mechanics

Duck Hunters uses a scatter-pays system rather than paylines or connected clusters. Matching symbols can land anywhere, provided at least eight copies appear on the grid.

After a win, the symbols disappear and another drop begins. Each new cascade can create another payout, strengthen existing multiplier positions or activate an xWays or Bomb feature.

The position multipliers give every cascade a clear purpose. Even when the first win is small, the spaces it clears can become more valuable if another matching group lands there during the same sequence.

The game is rated as extreme volatility by Nolimit City. Much of its larger win potential sits inside extended cascades, high position multipliers and the upgraded Free Spins rounds rather than straightforward base-game combinations.

Duck Hunters can also be accessed through compatible mobile slots. The grid is fairly busy, so landscape mode may make the multiplier positions and feature symbols easier to follow on a smaller screen.

Similar Slots

  • Fire in the Hole 3 is another feature-heavy Nolimit City slot, using an expanding mine grid alongside xBomb, xSplit, xGod and xHole mechanics. Like Duck Hunters, several features can interact during the same sequence and create increasingly busy bonus rounds.
  • Pirots 4 replaces paylines with a 6x6 collection grid where four birds gather matching gems. Cascading symbols, grid expansion and upgrades that remain active during the bonus give it a similar sense of progression.
  • Breakout is also developed by Nolimit City and combines persistent character multipliers with Chain Reaction Respins and two different bonus modes. Its comic presentation and layered mechanics should appeal to players who enjoy the more chaotic side of Duck Hunters.

Smooth Spins’ Opinion

Duck Hunters looks complicated at first, but the central idea is easy to understand once the first few cascades have played out. Winning symbols disappear, multipliers stay behind and the next drop has a chance to land across those improved positions.

The multiplier grid was the part we kept watching. A single highlighted space may not seem important at first, but repeated wins can turn it into the centre of the entire sequence. Bombs and xWays then give the game different ways to open the grid or increase the number of matching symbols.

We also liked the progression between the three Free Spins rounds. Duck Hunt Spins give you one upgrade, Hawk Eye Spins give you two, and Big Game Spins combine all three. The rules do not completely change each time, so the stronger modes feel like natural improvements rather than separate games.

Duck Hunters will probably suit players who enjoy busy scatter-pays slots and features that build across several cascades. Anyone looking for a quieter game with fixed paylines may find the screen crowded.
