Area Link Dragon enters a volcanic realm guarded by a large fire-breathing creature and four brightly coloured eggs. Area Vegas builds the game around 20 fixed win lines, stacked Wild symbols and an Area Link respin feature that can be modified in several ways. The most distinctive part is the relationship between the green, purple, red and blue Fireballs, as their colours determine which Dragon Upgrades become active. These can introduce multipliers, two independent reel arrays, value collections and Blast additions.
The game takes place in a scorched fantasy landscape, where mountains rise beneath a red sky filled with lightning. A large dragon occupies the right side of the screen, while its outstretched wing extends behind four eggs positioned above the reels. Each egg has a different glow, using green, purple, red or blue to correspond with one of the available upgrades. Deep red reel interiors and gold borders continue the fiery presentation. The symbols include treasure chests, gemstones, jewellery and a sceptre, all rendered with bright highlights and a polished fantasy style. Animations become particularly prominent when Fireballs appear, eggs crack open or the dragon breathes fire across the screen. The Area Link round replaces the standard interface with a burning reel frame and a darker volcanic background, clearly separating it from the regular spins.
Payout multipliers are based on the total bet and apply to matching symbols on three, four or five consecutive reels.
The dragon is both the highest-paying regular symbol and the Wild. It substitutes for every paying symbol apart from Fireballs and can appear stacked across any reel.
Whenever one or more Fireballs land, there is a chance that Area Link will begin. Three respins are initially awarded, and all Fireballs remain locked in place. Every additional Fireball resets the remaining respins to three. The round ends when the counter expires or every position has been filled.
Yellow Fireballs carry individual cash values or one of the fixed jackpot prizes. All visible prizes are awarded at the end of the feature. Filling the entire 5x3 array also awards the 5,000x Grand prize.
A randomly selected 2x, 3x or 5x multiplier applies during each respin. It multiplies a Yellow Fireball once when that symbol first locks into place.
A second 5x3 array is added. Both arrays operate independently and continue until their respective respins have finished or every position has been occupied.
Red Fireballs may appear and immediately collect the values of all Yellow Fireballs within the relevant array. Once the collection is complete, a Yellow Fireball is created in the Red Fireball’s position.
Blue Fireballs add their displayed value to a random number of Yellow Fireballs. The same Yellow Fireball may receive the value more than once before the Blue Fireball changes into a Yellow one.
Several differently coloured Fireballs may be collected on the same triggering spin. Their corresponding upgrades then operate together during Area Link.
The four displayed prize levels are the 10x Mini, 20x Minor, 100x Major and 5,000x Grand.
This slot uses five reels, three rows and 20 fixed win lines. Regular combinations require at least three matching symbols on adjacent reels, beginning with the leftmost reel and continuing from left to right. Only the highest winning combination is paid on each line. The base game remains relatively conventional outside its stacked Wilds and Fireball appearances. Each coloured Fireball is collected by the egg of the same colour above the reels, but collecting one does not guarantee that Area Link will activate. If the feature is triggered, the particular combination of Fireballs collected on that spin determines which Dragon Upgrades are awarded. The game has high volatility and a maximum payout of 5,000x the total bet.
We find that this title places nearly all of its individuality inside one elaborate respin feature. The regular 5x3 layout is easy to understand, although the base game has few additional mechanics beyond stacked Wilds and the possibility of collecting Fireballs. Its stronger point is the way four upgrades can alter Area Link individually or in combination. The coloured eggs also make the mechanic easier to follow than its number of rules might initially suggest. Green affects multipliers, purple adds another array, red collects existing values and blue distributes extra value. However, the random feature trigger means that landing Fireballs alone does not necessarily begin the respins. Among dragon-themed slot games, this release is best distinguished by its interconnected modifiers rather than its otherwise familiar visual subject.
